St Mel's College Longford was once again transformed into a magical theatre for the 2023 Longford Panto 'The Adventures of Billy & Sleeping Beauty'. In its very short existence, this annual Christmas Panto has well and truly put Longford on the Panto 'must see' map. READ MORE BELOW PHOTO Starring Damien Douglas as the lovable 'Billy' and X Factor star Mary Byrne as 'Fairy Mary' the 2023 production had audiences roaring with laughter at the hilarious script written by the Panto's director Pat McElwain. Local favourites Davy Flaherty (Queen Caramella), Valerie Sheils (Maleficent), Niamh O'Brien (Princess Aurora), Aoibhinn Macken (Princess Aurora), Iarlaith O'Rourke (Slugface) and Conor McLoughlin (Lord Chamberpot) were part of a star studded front line that also included seasoned pros Sean Hendley (King Charles) and Jordan Bass (Prince Ken). Eighty members of Evolution Stage School made up the wonderful chorus of singers/dancers. The popularity of this professional production was evident when four extra dates were added in early January due to demand bringing the total audience to over 6,000. Many of the patrons travelled from several different counties around the country. Some audience members flew in especially from the UK and USA. The producers Paul Hennessy, Tracey Carty and Gerry McCann would like to thank St Mel's College, the sponsors The Longford Arms Hotel, Longford Tourism, The Rustic Inn and every audience member for their continued support and are already looking forward to next Christmas when 'Rapunzel (& Billy)' takes to the stage.
