Sadness in Mullinalaghta following the death of Margaret Leonard
Late Margaret Leonard (née Newman), Ballinakill, Broadford, Kildare / Granard, Longford
There was deep regret in the area at the news of the death on Thursday, January 18 at the Regional Hospital Mullingar of Margaret Leonard, Ballinakill, Broadford, Co Kildare, and formerly Newman of Druminacrehir.
She was one of five children of the late Andrew and Margaret Newman and resided in Mullinalaghta until her marriage to Pat Leonard, whereupon she moved to Kildare where she and her husband engaged in farming.
She maintained a connection to her native area and was a regular visitor until recent years.
She was predeceased by her parents and by her brother Bartley and sister Mary.
She is survived by her husband, her brother Andrew (Clooneen), her sister Kathleen (Mullingar), her brother-in-law Jimmy, sisters-in-law Vera and Anne, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to whom we extend our sincere sympathy.
Her funeral took place on Tuesday, January 23 to Broadford cemetery after Requiem Mass in St Mary’s Church. May she rest in peace.
