Niamh Bury has been hailed as one of Irish folk’s most exciting new talents, a particularly prestigious coup during a time when the genre is garnering so much attention around the world.

Niamh will be bringing her talents to Longford at St John’s Church, this Friday, August 2 from 8pm. Tickets are €15 and are on sale now, which you can book HERE.

Niamh is preforming as the headline act as part of August's First Fridays Longford event. With a host of late-night gigs across Longford town, the initiative has been running since April. This exciting new venture aims to initiative is to bring people into the county town to enjoy a ‘no hassle’ night of enjoyment and entertainment in pubs and venues in Longford Town.

Niamh regularly shares the stage with Ye Vagabonds and Dermot Kennedy to name but a few and her latest album Yellow Roses was produced by Ye Vagabond’s Brían Mac Gloinn.

RTÉ Radio 1 has featured all of her singles on their coveted ‘RTÉ Radio 1 Recommends’ list. The Sunday Times featured her on the cover of their Culture Magazine as her first single ‘Beehive’ was released – an incredible achievement for a new artist; such is the regard in which Niamh and her music are held.

Last December, Niamh stunned audiences at Other Voices Dingle where she played three very special sets. 2024 began with Niamh being named in The Irish Times’ noted ‘50 People to Watch in 2024’ list, shortlisted in the Best Emerging Artist category at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards and invited to perform as part of the ceremony, invited to perform at The London Irish Centre as part of their A, and added to the incredible ‘Tradition Now’ line-up at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

Speaking on preforming in Longford for the "first time", 33-year-old Niamh said: "I am excited, I have never preformed in Longford before. It is going to be a solo show and I play guitar and banjo and obviously going to be singing as well. It will be  mostly songs from the album I released in March.

"It is called Yellow Roses and I released it on March 29 and there are ten songs in total. There are nine originals and one traditional song. There are four or five singles and I release the first one this time last year so it has been a nice journey since then. I have been playing music my whole life and I have been taking it more seriously in the last five or six years. I have had such a nice reception from fans who aren't my family and friends. I appreciate any kind feedback."

Following the concert music lovers can enjoy a series of free gigs through the town, more details of First Fridays Music and events can be found HERE.

The programme is coordinated by Backstage Theatre in partnership with Longford County Council, with funding support from the Arts Council and Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
