A motorist detected with drugs in her system has been disqualified from driving for one year.

Catherine Fryday of Ballincurry, Drumlish pleaded guilty at the local district court to the offence at School Land, Ballinalee.

Inspector David Jordan said Ms Fryday was stopped at a Garda checkpoint on June 4, 2023 and she  appeared to have glassy eyes and was 'dishevelled'.

The driver was asked to take a roadside oral fluid test for drugs, which came back positive and she later provided a blood specimen to a doctor which was also positive.

Ms Fryday had no previous convictions.

Solicitor Solicitor Bríd Mimnagh stated her client has some medical difficulties she is dealing  with.

Judge Bernadette Owens also imposed a €350 fine with six months to pay.
