Victim impact statement sought over incident at playground in the Midlands

Defendant pleaded guilty to having an uncontrolled dog at the playground
A court was told a seven year old boy was the victim in a case relating to the control of dogs in the Midlands.
Kathleen Drennan (54) of 23 Erkindale, Durrow pleaded guilty to having an uncontrolled dog at Durrow Playground on March 29 last.
Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald explained that the case was being prosecuted under the control of dogs act.
The sitting of Portlaoise District Court was told a victim impact statement might be needed in the case.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said “the alleged injured party is seven years of age so we might need a child interviewer along with his mother.”
