Woman recuperating in hospital following Longford house fire

A woman in her forties is recuperating in hospital after she was rescued from a house fire in Longford town on Monday evening.
The woman, who lives alone, was treated for suspected smoke inhalation after a blaze broke out at a two storey house in the Farneyhoogan area at around 6pm.
It's understood the alarm was raised by neighbours who initially managed to contain the fire before a number of fire brigade units arrived on the scene moments later.
The Leader visited the scene earlier today and spoke to a number of local residents, all of whom wished the woman well in her recovery.
A downstairs front window was partially boarded up where attempts to free the woman had been made some 48 hours earlier.
Longfordlive.ie also understands gardaí are not treating the fire as suspicious, but did confirm the injured woman received treatment at the scene.
"Gardaí attended the scene of a fire at a residential property in Longford town which occurred at approximately 6pm on Monday 14th of November 2022," said a spokesperson.
"A woman (40s) was treated at the scene by emergency personnel for injuries which are believed to be non life-threatening."
