Amazing: 20,000th finish achieved at popular parkrun at Offaly windfarm venue
This weekend's Mountlucas parkrun saw a number of celebrations.
Ryan Travers completed his 50th parkrun, and remarkably all 50 parkruns have been completed at Mountlucas parkrun. The milestone served him well as he acheived a new personal best (PB) of 22:02 on the day.
Another milestone achieved on the day was Mary Rowan's 200th parkrun. Mary has been taking part in Mountlucas parkrun, along with her husband Enda and son Owen óg, since it started in 2017. She brought a selection of baked treats to share with attendees on the day.
Speaking to Mary after the event she said "It was wonderful to complete my 200th parkrun in sunny Mountlucas surrounded by family and friends. In July 2017 I did my first one there knowing few. Now everywhere I look there's a friendly, supportive face! It's the best way to start the weekend."
Since Mountlucas parkrun commenced in 2017, there have been just over 20,000 "finishes" - the total number of times the event has been completed over the 376 events held, which have been attended by almost 3000 different people over this period. The 20,000th "finish" was achieved at the weekend by Eugene McCabe, who was presented with a small token of achievement by the event's Run Director Martin Lawlor.
