Audrey Hennessy Kennedy raises safety concerns for road users and pedestrians

Local Election candidate for Birr highlights safety issues at two Birr junctions
AUDREY Hennessy Kennedy, the Fianna Fáil Local Election candidate for Birr, has highlighted pressing safety issues affecting road users at Seffin and the Roscrea Road in Birr.
Throughout her canvassing, residents and road users have shared their concerns with Hennessy Kennedy, particularly regarding the traffic lights at Seffin. There have been frequent reports of vehicles running these lights, posing significant risks to both pedestrians using the crossing and cars attempting to join the main road from Hillside. Residents have recounted several near-miss incidents at this junction in recent weeks.
Another pressing issue highlighted by residents in the area is the height and overgrowth at the centre of the roundabout near the Tesco/Riverstown exit. The excessive height obstructs motorists' view of oncoming traffic, creating a hazardous situation.
Additionally, Audrey Hennessy Kennedy has noted the absence of adequate speed zone signage on the Roscrea Road heading out of town towards the Airfield. Residents are concerned about speeding vehicles in this area, which jeopardises the safety of both pedestrians and motorists.
Audrey Hennessy Kennedy has made representations on behalf of residents to address the severity of these issues and commits to continuing her efforts to ensure the safety of the community.
