Call for essential repairs to water feature in Tullamore town park

INDEPENDENT councillor, Sean O' Brien has called for funding to be provided by the council to carry out essential repairs to the water feature in the town park in Tullamore.
"The water feature in the town park has been out of use for some time and I am again asking the council to provide the necessary money to have it repaired. I have been asking for action on this on a number of occasions. Last year the council sought funding from a Government scheme but this was not successful and we now have to allocate finances from our own resources to get this facility repaired. Work is under way to build new toilets, a caretakers office and a bandstand in the town park and now is the time to allocate funding for repair of the water feature so that the town park will then be fully open for use. I will be proposing the allocation of finance for this work at Thursday's meeting of the Municipal Council and I hope that my fellow councillors will support me" stated Cllr O' Brien.
Meanwhile Cllr O'Brien also has called for essential footpath repairs to the footpath on Church Road, Tullamore.
"The footpath on Church Road, from the Roundabout at New Road to the entrance to Hophill, is in very bad repair. I have raised this previously following complaints from residents. I am now seeking to have this work included in this year's programme of works and I will be seeking an assurance to have this work done at the Municipal Council meeting this Thursday. The footpath is in fact in a dangerous state and there are a number of elderly residents in this area who find it difficult to use this footpath".
