The weekend was packed with music, food and demonstrations

THE Bog Trotters festival in Clara was a massive success over last weekend June 19 to 22.

The festival which celebrates the unique Clara Bog and Summer Solstice was packed with all sorts of activities.

Walks, talks, presentations and panel discussions took place along with kids activities, workshops, plenty of music and a BBQ.

This year the event welcomed the Irish Architecture Foundation (IAF) and 12th Field and their Bog Bothy- an interactive space for shelter, retreat and deep engagement with the natural landscape, which was nestled in the Erry Hills overlooking Clara Bog.

The festival also featured a bog ore smelting demonstration and wood turning by Oisin Feery and Jamie Smith together with TikTok and YouTube star Eoin Reardon (aka a Pint of Plane).

The free event took place across a number of sites around the town and locality.

Saturday evening was a highlight with live music and a BBQ in the grounds of Clara House Estate, with new faces and sounds including the experimental electronic folk music with Pippa Molony, Rory Sweeney and alternative folk music courtesy of 'Barnburner' featuring Pippa Molony and Aoife Wolf. Both bands were supported by local band 'Ever After' (Cushen Family).
