Court hears Offaly woman caught driving didn't know she was banned

A WOMAN who drove while disqualified, didn't know she was disqualified, last week's District Court heard.

In his evidence Garda Patrick McGee said that on March 2, 2024 at Clonad, Daingean, Cliona Mannion, The Blackthorn, Main Street, Daingean had been driving while disqualified. In addition she had no insurance, or driving licence.

Solicitor Patrick Martin said Cliona Mannion was a 34 year old woman who was attending the Bannon Centre.

Her previous conviction dates back to September 2023 when she had been disqualified for two years for driving without licence or insurance. She also had a case going back to 2012 for careless driving and had been fined €100.

Judge Andrew Cody imposed a fine of €250 for driving without insurance and disqualified her from driving for four years.

For driving without a licence he fined the defendant €250 and gave her six months to pay.
