A PLANNING decision on a major housing project for Tullamore has been delayed.

Offaly County Council has requested further information from Capital Homes on its scheme for 90 houses and eight apartments on the Kearney's Field site off the Clara Road adjacent to the new Redwood development.

The proposed estate has been named 'Hayfield' by Capital Homes, a company headed up by local businessman and developer Seamus Sheerin.

The plan incorporates what the developer says will be a “landmark” three-storey building with eight apartments on the top two floors and a gym, remote working hub and creche on the ground floor.

The 90 houses planned comprise 58-three-beds, 20 two-beds and 12 four-bed semi-detached houses.

The development is to be located on the same 10.3ha site where about 100 houses are either already completed and occupied or under construction.

A ruling from council planners was due on Monday, August 31 but instead the further information was sought.

In addition to the Redwood and Hayfield schemes, Capital Homes intends to build a further 80 houses on a remaining parcel of land at the same site.
