A planning application was submitted on October 22 for the proposed development in Birr

Plans have been unveiled for works on the Oxmantown National School, located on Model School Road and Pound Street in Birr.

The proposed development which involves a protected structure were revealed as part of a new planning application which was submitted by the board of management of the school to Offaly County Council on October 22.

The plans include the demolition of a stone shed structure and sections of the existing stone boundary along Pound Street with demolition, alteration and elevation changes to the existing building.

This will pave the way for the planned construction of a single storey extension connecting to the existing school building.

There will also be a provision of a new pedestrian entrance and new service access gates within the existing stone boundary wall on Pound Street along with connections to the existing services and all associated site works to complete the development.

The details of the planning application confirm that no Integrated Pollution Control (IPC) license or waste license are required for the project.

The validity of the application is subject to the site notice complying with planning regulations.

An inspection of the site may also be carried out within five weeks of the receipt of the application

Any submissions or observations on the proposed project must be submitted by November 25, with the final decision on the planning application taking place on December 16.
