'Did he think he was Tarzan, with his shirt off?' asks Judge in Tullamore
A LAOIS man, Simon McInerney (24), 22 Twomey Park, Mountmellick was convicted of engaging in threatening behaviour during the December 18 sitting of Tullamore Court.
The incident happened on November 29 last on Kilbride Street Tullamore. Mr McInerney was also charged with being intoxicated in public.
Sergeant Richard Thornton told the court that the Gardai were notified on the date in question of a large fight taking place on Kilbride Street.
“When they arrived at the scene they saw that Mr McInerney had no shirt on and was shouting at another male. He has two previous convictions, one for drink driving, the other for threatening behaviour.”
“Did he think he was Tarzan, with his shirt off?” asked Judge Andrew Cody. “Causing havoc when people are trying to enjoy a night out.”
The defending solicitor Patrick Martin said his client apologised for his behaviour.
"He had too much to drink. He is a married man with two children. His wife is present today in court, in support. He is on disability support for mental health issues.”
Judge Cody convicted for threatening behaviour and fined €500; and took into consideration the intoxication charge.
