Santa Claus and his faithful elves to witch-on festive lights on Sunday

The annual Christmas Market returns to Tullamore town centre this Friday, November 17 and will be in operation from 3pm to 7pm.

The market is also open from 11am to 7pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

The market includes artisan foods and crafts from local producers and will also feature children's entertainment, amusements and music.

Sunday evening one of the highlights of the year will take place in the town centre with the official switch-on of the Christmas lights by the man himself, Santa Claus.

Santa is due to arrive in the town from the North Pole at 5.30pm and then will travel to Patrick St for the switch-on.

Santa will be joined on the occasion by his trusty elves and the team from Cinderella.

Santa, also accompanied by stilt walkers, will parade down from Kilbeggan bridge to the stage on Patrick St for the switch-on.

There will be plenty of entertainment on the afternoon and evening including DJs, choirs, balloon artists and face painters.

The Christmas Lights organising committee have also issued an appeal to local businesses to support the venture once again.

Contributions can be made to the Christmas lights gofund me page or through the new direct debit facility.
