Fine for man stole diesel from filling station in Tullamore

A DEFENDANT pleaded guilty to stealing diesel from a filling station, during last week's Tullamore Court sitting.

Seán Kilmartin, 41 Assumption Road, Athlone was charged with stealing €40 of diesel from Circle K, Arden Road, Tullamore on September 7, 2023.

Sgt Brendan Kearns said the defendant told the Circle K staff that he had forgotten his credit card and he would return with it. However, he failed to return and the staff weren't able to contact him. Mr Kilmartin had eight previous convictions including no driving licence and no seatbelt.

The defending solicitor Patrick Martin said his client is 30 years of age and has two children.

“My client did leave his contact details with the staff,” Mr Martin pointed out. “He forgot to contact them.”

“Were they the correct details?” Judge Cody asked.

The Judge convicted and fined €300, three months to pay.
