First time candidate elected on second count in Edenderry Electoral Area

First time candidate Claire Murray (Fianna Fail) has been elected on the second count in the Edenderry Electoral Area.

The count was the distribution of Eddie Fitzpatrick's surplus and Murray picked up an additional 61 votes to put her over the quota of 1,251.

She is the third candidate of six to be elected in the Edenderry Area joining Eddie Fitzpatrick and Fergus McDonnell as elected members of Offaly County Council.

Fine Gael pair of Liam Quinn and Noel Cribbin look set to take seats four and five but the sixth seat is likely to be a real battle between Claire Murray (Sinn Fein), John McNamee (Social Democrats) and Robert McDermott (FF).
