Funding has been granted for two new bus shelters in Tullamore.

The grant of €20,000 will allow for the construction of two bus shelters in Colmcille Street.

Independent Councillor, Sean O' Brien has welcomed the funding for two bus shelters on Colmcille St., Tullamore.

"I have been asking for the construction of bus shelters in Tullamore for some time and I also raised it with Minister Eamonn Ryan during his recent visit to Tullamore.

People  waiting for buses in this area have been complaining about the lack of a bus shelter and constantly getting wet while waiting for a bus.

@The Government are encouraging people to use public transport and people will do this provided there are proper facilities" outlined Cllr O' Brien.

"These Bus shelters will also help with clearly identifying the bus stops which are clearly marked as such and cars should not be parking here.  When cars are parked at the Bus Stop then the bus has to double park and this causes a traffic  flow problem.  We also need proper bus timetables placed at the bus stops and all buses should use these official bus stops.  There is a need for a bus shelter in Killeigh also and I will continue to pursue this," concluded Cllr O' Brien.
