Fundraising cycle for Offaly man seriously injured when hit by tractor raises huge amount

A fundraising cycle for an Offaly man seriously injured when he was struck by tractor last week had already raised a huge amount.

Local man Joe Geraghty was left with serious injuries after being struck by a tractor in Cappincur on Wednesday, June 7. Joe has a long road to recovery and will require multiple surgeries. He had his first surgery on Tuesday.

Joe was just newly married to his wife Rachael.

In an effort to raise funds for Joe, his uncle-in-law Con Kennedy undertook a 200km cycle around the Wicklow Mountains on Sunday. To date, his cycle has raised over €7,000 for Joe with donations still coming in.

Any money raised will go to Joe and Rachael in helping them pay for countless trips to hospital and any other expenses they will have along the way.

On the fundraising page Con says, 'as a newly married couple trying to start out in life any donation received big or small will be greatly appreciated.'
