'Gangs of youths' causing 'lots of damage' at GAA club in Offaly
'Gangs of youths' are causing 'lots of damage' at a GAA club in Offaly which has now installed CCTV to try and deal with the issue.
Edenderry GAA Club taken to social media to outline what is going on and has appealed to parents to take action.
In a statement posted this week, the club outlines how it has developed one of the best facilities in Ireland thanks to the support of members, bingo players, lotto players and sponsors adding that an announcement will be made in the coming weeks about the next stage of development.
However the club also says that the damage being caused to its facilities is slowing down further development due to the cost of the damage.
The club has now taken the step of installing CCTV and says it will give it to gardai while also sharing it on its social media platforms.
The club's statement says, "unfortunately over the past number of weeks, large gangs of youths who are non members have been gathering in our facilities and doing lots of damage which is never nice to see and also the cost of having to replace slows down further developments. We are asking parents of these kids, as they know where their kids are, not to be coming into our facilities and doing harm. We have installed CCTV and will be giving it to the local Guards to deal with it from here - also we will be sharing it on all our Social Media Platforms going forward."
Above are pictures of just some of the damage that has been caused at the grounds in recent weeks.
