Tipperary Roads Policing Unit, while patrolling Roscrea, seized a car after their automatic number plate reading system in the patrol car flagged a vehicle for a serious offence.

The driver of the car was found to be uninsured after the ANPR system alerted the gardaí on Lourdes Road in Roscrea town centre.

After pulling over and investigating the car was seized and the driver faces court.

Gardaí are reminding motorists that the new ANPR technology is detecting uninsured drivers and the database is updated daily, so if you drive uninsured you will be caught.
