Grammy award winner to perform in concert in Tullamore this week

THE third evening of the Tullamore International Summer Organ Series 2023 in the Church of the Assumption on Tuesday, July 18 will see a performance titled The American Connection, featuring Jonathan Dimmock, principal organist of the Legion of Honor Museum, San Francisco.
Dimmock gives weekly organ demonstrations and lectures for the 750 people who show up every week.
He is also organist for the San Francisco Symphony. He has made more than 50 recordings (both ensemble and solo) and enjoys touring at home and abroad.
Dimmock has toured on six continents and has a Grammy award with the San Francisco Symphony.
He was also the first - and only - American Organ Scholar at Westminster Abbey, and has served three American Cathedrals: St John the Divine (New York), St Mark’s (Minneapolis), and Grace Cathedral (San Francisco).
The organisers of the Tullamore International Summer Organ Series said he loves to perform and looks forward to sharing his excitement about organ music with his audience in Tullamore.
His programme will include Johann Sebastian Bach, Bert Matter, Kenneth Leighton, Dietrich Buxtehude, Paul Hindemith, Johann Kaspar Kerll and Aaron Copland.
The top organists are drawn to the church in Tullamore because it is home to the renowned Frobenius organ which was gifted to Tullamore Parish by the Lutheran Community of Kopenhagen.
