Green light for major residential development in Offaly

Permission was sought for 90 houses and eight apartments in Tullamore
Council planners in Offaly have given the green light for another major housing scheme.
The go-ahead has been given to Capital Homes for a project which will expand the Redwood development off the Clara Road in Tullamore.
Capital Homes, a company headed up by local businessman and developer Seamus Sheerin, sought consent for 90 houses and eight apartments.
There are already about 100 houses occupied, built or under construction in the overall development.
The project which got permission on March 8 also incorporates what the developer says will be a “landmark” three-storey building with apartments on the top two floors and a gym, remote working hub and creche on the ground floor.
The consent from Offaly County Council is subject to 26 conditions but at time of writing these had not been published.
'Hayfield' is the name chosen for the estate and the designers say that is a throwback to its location, which was known locally as Kearney's Field.
The council decision follows the receipt of further information from the developer last month.
A number of nearby residents had raised concerns about the impact the new housing would have and other issues were raised around access for traffic.
The developer proposed a pedestrian and cycle link with Arden Heights and Oaklee.
There will be no road from Hayfield joining Maple Grove, a cul-de-sac off the Clara Road.
