Huge tree falls onto busy Offaly road

A major Offaly road was closed on Wednesday after a tree fell in strong winds.

The large tree fell across the R420 road at Meelaghans, not far from Annaharvey Farm.

The route is the main road between Tullamore and Portarlington.

Offaly County Council posted an update shortly after 3pm on Wednesday to tell motorists the road was closed while crews worked to remove the tree.
