The new restaurant will open next week at the Tullamore Retail Park

Wendy's, the iconic American restaurant, opens a new outlet in Tullamore on Tuesday next, June 23.

The new Wendy's will be located at the Tullamore Retail Park in Cloncollig in the premises formerly occupied by Burgerking.

The restaurant includes a Drive-Thru and patrons can sample Wendy's favourites such as their cool, creamy Frosty dessert or their renowned square burger.

Earlier this year Corrib Oil confirmed that Tullamore Retail Park will be home to the second Wendy’s restaurant in Ireland.

The new Wendy’s restaurant will create 60 new jobs.

The news was hailed by Tullamore based TD, Tony McCormack who said he believes Wendy’s will be a fantastic addition to Offaly and a positive step forward for the local economy.

“This is more than just a new restaurant. It will become a destination that attracts visitors from right across the Midlands. Increased footfall will naturally bring added custom to neighbouring businesses, supporting local shops and services while helping to drive economic activity throughout the area,” he said.

Deputy McCormack noted that the creation of 60 jobs is particularly encouraging and comes as welcome news for workers, families, and the wider community.

“Job creation on this scale is always worth celebrating. Opportunities like this help strengthen our towns and ensure that people can live and work locally,” he added.

He also highlighted the wider significance of the investment, pointing out that the Tullamore restaurant will be only the second Wendy’s location in Ireland.

“To think that Offaly has been chosen for just the second Wendy’s in the country shows that we are becoming attractive and competitive again on a national stage. It is a strong endorsement of what our county has to offer.”

Deputy McCormack wished the Wendy’s team every success ahead of the opening and said he looks forward to seeing the positive impact the new business will bring.

The announcement follows the successful opening of Ireland’s first Wendy’s restaurant at Mahon Point Shopping Centre in Cork last October, which has seen strong customer demand since opening and created more than 60 jobs.

Tullamore Retail Park is conveniently located just inside the N52 ring road, five minutes from Tullamore town centre and approximately 10 minutes from the M6 Dublin–Galway motorway. The site is easily accessible by car and public transport, offers free on-site parking, and provides a range of in-store shopping options, making it a convenient destination for customers from across the Midlands.

As with the Cork restaurant, the Tullamore Wendy’s will serve a menu built around 100% fresh Irish beef and hand-breaded chicken burgers and tenders, sourced from Irish-based food companies Kepak and Western Brand. The menu will also feature the brand’s best-known items, including its famous square hamburgers and the iconic Frosty® dessert. Breakfast options, wraps and kids’ meals will also be available when the restaurant opens later this spring.

Michael Dalton, Managing Director, Corrib Brands, said: “Following the fantastic response to our first Wendy’s restaurant in Cork, we’re delighted to confirm Tullamore as the location for our second Irish location. Set to open this May, the new restaurant, complete with a drive-thru, will create 60 new local jobs and bring Wendy’s signature quality, freshness and hospitality to the heart of the Midlands. This is another important step in our long-term expansion strategy.”

Founded in 1987, Corrib Oil currently operates 41 convenience stores with forecourts and 20 fuel depots across 17 counties. Corrib Oil operates three distinct divisions: Corrib Retail, Corrib Oil Distribution, and Corrib Brands. The business has established strong long-term partnerships with BWG Foods (operating under its Spar brand), Texaco, Circle K, and popular food chains including Insomnia, Apache Pizza, Subway, and Zambrero.

Over the coming years, Corrib plans to open 10 Wendy’s locations across Ireland, both as standalone restaurants and at select Corrib Oil service stations, creating more than 300 jobs nationwide. Further Wendy’s locations will be announced in due course.

Michael Clarke, Managing Director, Europe, The Wendy’s Company, added: “We’re proud to see Wendy’s continue its growth in Ireland with the opening of the Tullamore restaurant. Corrib Oil has proven to be a strong partner, and we’re excited to bring Wendy’s ‘globally great, locally loved’ experience to more Irish customers when the restaurant opens this spring.”
