Lyric FM programme on poems about Offaly town

A PROGRAMME entitled A Place of Pointed Rocks based on Jessica Traynor’s wonderful suite of poems on Banagher’s history and folklore will be broadcast on RTE Lyric FM (98.4 FM) next Sunday October 15th at 6pm.

The programme produced by Claire Cunningham will include several familiar local voices and relate to local historic events and should make for interesting listening.

The programme was largely recorded in Banagher and will include soundscapes from last year’s Banagher Fair. The poems were published in 2021 with the great assistance of the Arts Office in Offaly County Council but hard copies need to be better distributed locally so the community can enjoy them a lot more.
