Man who assaulted gardai after being caught with stolen goods appears in court in Tullamore

A man who assaulted gardai after being caught with stolen goods has appeared in court in Tullamore.

According to gardai, gardai in Laois stopped a vehicle on Tuesday on the M7 as it was being driven without insurance. 

Gardai say that the driver assaulted Garda members and fled the scene on foot but was subsequently discovered in a nearby property following a search. A large quantity of stolen goods was recovered from the vehicle including designer clothing and hats.

The driver was later charged with a number of offences and brought before Tullamore District Court.
