Minister announces €49,500 for Peatlands Communities in Offaly

€49,500 has been granted to Offaly County Council for Peatlands Communities in Offaly.
The money is to be used for technical support to identify cluster opportunities for linking tracks, trails and recreational amenities in the peatlands.
The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, has today November 21 announced almost 2.3 million to support the development of 50 outdoor adventure projects across Ireland.
''We're now heading into the darker days of winter and it's more important than ever to make the most of those precious daylight hours by getting out and about when you can,'' said the Minister.
''The funding I'm announcing today will support the further development of hiking trails, water based activities and other amenities making them even more enjoyable places for families to visit nationwide. These amenities are here for us all to enjoy. I would encourage everyone who can to get out and about and make the most of what our countryside has to offer.''
Funding will support the preparatory work required to bring large scale outdoor recreation projects to a shovel-ready stage, said the minister.
She said that ''investment will ensure a strong pipeline of outdoor amenity projects right across the country in the coming years.''
50 outdoor adventure projects are set to benefit across Ireland.
