Offaly athlete claims two medals at Leinster Indoor Track and Field

Kelly Moyo, representing the newly formed Banagher Juvenile Athletic Club, claimed two medals at the Leinster Indoor Track and Field Championships in Athlone last weekend.

In the U-12 60m, Moyo claimed gold in a closely contested race. Her winning time of 8.70 seconds is among the best times recorded at a regional championship this year.

In the longer 600m race, Kelly worked her way through the field from sixth position to eventually win silver in a time of 1 minute 51.59 seconds. These two performances have qualified her for the national finals to be staged in Athlone on the 29th and 30th of March.

Kelly’s athletic potential was first noticed when she represented St. Rynagh's National School at Offaly Sports Partnership’s Diversity Games in 2024. Following these Games, Kelly started training for Community Games and went on to win gold in the U-10 200m at area, county and national finals. Her runs in Athlone this year was her first step into inter club athletics, and she is a name we will likely hear more of in the future.
