Simon Harris to open Ireland's largest one day agricultural event on Sunday

OFFALY Fine Gael TD John Clendennen has issued a statement officially welcoming Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defence, Simon Harris to Tullamore.

The Tanaiste will officially open the Tullamore Show and FBD National Livestock Show, Ireland’s largest one-day agricultural event on Sunday next.

The event is scheduled to officially open at 12 noon at the Butterfield Estate, Blueball.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin was to open the event but he had to cancel due to other duties.

Deputy Clendennen said: “It’s a great honour to welcome An Tánaiste Simon Harris to Tullamore for this year’s show. His attendance underlines the national importance of this event, not just for agriculture, but for the entire rural economy.

“The Tullamore Show is a celebration of everything great about rural Ireland, innovation, community, tradition, and resilience. I’m delighted that the Tánaiste will join us to acknowledge and support that spirit.”

With an average 60,000 visitors in recent years, the Tullamore Show is one of the standout events in the Irish summer calendar, showcasing the best of Irish agriculture, food, crafts, enterprise, and rural life.

“I’m very much looking forward to attending the Tullamore Show this Sunday. It promises to be another fantastic event and I want to conclude by acknowledging the great work of all the show committee led by John Keena, as well as local councillor Neil Feighery, for all the work and preparation in advance of the show,” concluded Deputy Clendennen.
