Offaly fire man who helped save many lives retires after 24 years service

Offaly Fire and Rescue Service have wished Driver Mechanic Brian Daly well on his retirement from Tullamore Fire Brigade.
Brian has been with the service for over 24 years having started as a firefighter in 1998 before moving through the ranks to Driver Mechanic in 2008.
Throughout his career, Brian has been involved in assisting members of the community at fires, road traffic accidents and medical emergencies as well as ensuring the protection of property and environment.
As part of the Tullamore Fire Brigade’s Water First Responders, Brian was a key player in the rescue of persons from waterways and has a number of saves to be proud of.
Brian was also instrumental in raising the driving standards of firefighters across the fire service, having first been trained to the UK EFAD Instructors Standard in 2009 and more recently as a nationally recognised Emergency Service Driving Standard Trainer.
''We hope Brian, and his family who supported him in his role, enjoy their retirement from Offaly Fire & Rescue Service. Many thanks for the years of service to Tullamore Fire Brigade and the community it serves,'' said Station Officer Stephen Coyle.
