Offaly GAA club receives major award for promotion of Irish

Joe McDonagh Foundation award for Tullamore GAA club for promotion of the language
Tullamore GAA has won an award for promoting the Irish language. The Joe McDonagh Foundation is the mechanism used in the GAA to promote the Irish language.
Tullamore GAA under the guidance of cultural officer Niamh Clarke, has done tremendous work over the past few years, organising many activities through Irish.
With the support of Glór na nGael and the National Cultural Officer Jamie O Tuama, the club in Tullamore has inspired and encouraged the growth and use of Irish throughout the club.
Coffee mornings, Irish classes, training sessions and Pop-Up Gaeltachts were some of the activities that the club organised.
Cultural Officer Niamh Clarke said it was because of the full support of the executive committee of Tullamore GAA and the members of club that they were so successful in their endeavours. She also encourages other clubs to use the supports and guidance available from Glór na nGael and the GAA to promote Irish.
