THE case of an Offaly man accused of handling stolen property was adjourned to July 2 next when he must either plead guilty to be given a date for a hearing.

John Paul McDonagh (37) of Presentation Place, Birr, is charged with handling €5,000 worth of various types of construction tools knowing the property was stolen.

He is also charged with allowing himself to be carried in a vehicle knowing the vehicle was being used without the consent of the owner.

The offences are alleged to have taken place on October 26 and 27 at The Thatch, Rahan, Tullamore.

Solicitor Aisling Maloney said the majority of the tools had been recovered and the injured party had been fully compensated by a co-accused.
