Offaly teenager moves up a gear in international motor sport

Clonbullogue driver will compete in Formula Two this season
YOUNG Offaly man Alex Dunne has made the jump to Formula 2 motor racing for the 2025 season.
The 19-year-old from Clonbullogue, who last week was announced as a brand ambassador for Condron Concrete, will race alongside Australian driver Christian Mansell for the Rodin Motorsport team.
The upgrade to F2 – just one rung below Formula 1 on the glamorous motor racing ladder – comes on the back of a rookie year at Formula 3 where Dunne achieved two podium positions, one in Barcelona and another in Monza Sprint Races, before going on to finish 14th in the Drivers’ Championship.
Dunne drove for Rodin Motorsport during all three days of post-season testing in Abu Dhabi last year.
Speaking following the announcement, Dunne thanked those who helped him get to this point.
“I’m pleased to be able to confirm my plans for the 2025 season, which will see me joining Rodin Motorsport and participating in Formula 2,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to the upcoming season and thankful for everyone’s support in getting me to this stage – I can’t wait to hit the ground running.”
John Condron of Condron Concrete said: “I am delighted that our sponsorship has helped to enable Alex take the next step on his journey towards F1.”
Alex Dunne is a rising star in international motorsport and his impressive track earned him a place in the McLaren Driver Development Programme.
He won the 2022 FIA British Formula 4 Championship and was the vice champion in the 2022 Italian Formula 4 Championship.
