A once landmark and popular family run Offaly pub that has been closed for a number of years is set to be added to Derelict Sites Register.

Offaly County Council  has given notice of its intention to add Annie Kelly's Pub on Harbour Street in Tullamore to the register.

A notice posted to the owner of the pub says that Offaly County Council is of the opinion that the premises is a derelict site within the definition of Section 3 of the Derelict Sites Act.

Lands and properties entered on the Register are liable to an annual levy until they are deemed to have been made 'non-derelict'.

The owner has until June 21 to make representations or outline proposals or plans to make the building 'non-derelict'.

One description of the pub posted on Tripadvisor in 2015 sums up the pub when it was open.

"This was a fantastic family run old style pub, the Guinness was fantastic and the craic always 90. Alas, it is no more!"
