Over €14,000 so far raised for repairs to Offaly soccer team's club house

CLARA football club has so far raised over €14,000 to carry out repairs to the roof of its club house which underwent considerable damage during the recent storms.

A gofund me page was set up on behalf of the club and up to this morning Monday, January 29, it had raised €14,431. Many people have donated sums of €50 to €100.

The clubhouse is used as a hub for training, parties, games and community events.

A message on the gofund me website stated.

'' As we rally together to rebuild and restore this vital space, we kindly seek your support.

Your small donation, whether you're near or far, will go a long way in getting our clubhouse back up and running. It's not just a place for sports; it's a cornerstone of our community, where memories are made, friendships are forged, and celebrations happen.

The club is currently seeking permission to install a 65 x 35 metre astro turf pitch and 700 metre long walking track. The application will also include a 2.4 meter high galvanised fence, LED Flood light system to both the walking track and pitch and all associated site works and drainage.

Offaly County Council has placed the application on hold and has sought further information on the application.
