There was a large turnout, including an Offaly contingent, for a Gaelic football tournament in memory of members of An Garda Siochana who have passed, in particular Liam Kearns who served as Offaly senior football manager until his death.
The Liam Kearns Memorial tournament, which took place at Maguires Fields at University of Limerick last Thursday, also marked the 30th anniversary of the Limerick Garda Club. Kearns was a garda and also previously served as Limerick senior football boss.
Organiser of the event and member, Garda Cathal O’Gorman said participating teams came from each division in the southern region, from Laois/Offaly and from the Garda College in Templemore.
