The Dean Maxwell Community Nursing Home in Roscrea is an institution of care and compassion in the heritage town, which has played a role in generations of Roscrea families since its opening in 1975. On Saturday last the staff, management, residents and their families marked the important milestone of half a century of compassionate care provided by the Dean Maxwell Community Nursing Unit in Roscrea. The Nursing Home, located in the shadow of St. Cronan's Church in the heart of the town, continues to play an important role in caring for people from Roscrea in the town they know and love and close to their families and friends. The event was marked by a special mass service celebrated by Fr John Molloy, Fr Antun Pasalic, and Fr Tom Corbett, and featuring music by Martin Delaney. Among those in attendance at the event to mark five decades of care in Roscrea were local clergy Fr Antun Pasalic, Fr Tom Corbett and Fr John Molloy; former Director of Nursing Anne Keevey; Sean Maxwell, nephew of Dean Thomas Maxwell; Director of Nursing Ambili Appukkuttan; Niall Maxwell, nephew of Dean Thomas Maxwell and former Director of Nursing Bróna Brophy. The Dean Maxwell is home to 27 residents who avail of long-stay, respite and palliative care, supported by a dedicated team of nurses, health care assistants, catering and administrative staff from the local community and surrounds.
