A Tullamore man paid €3,000 in compensation to an injured party during the July 26 sitting of Tullamore District Court.

Dylan Melia, 9 Tara Crescent, had pleaded guilty at a previous court sitting to assaulting Stephen Brazil “causing him harm” at O'Connor Square Tullamore on June 26,  2022.

Defending solicitor Donal Farrelly said Mr Melia had no previous convictions.

“He is 28 years of age, is single and is employed as a machine operator in a factory. This was an argument between the two men, which got out of hand.”

Sgt James O’Sullivan said they had CCTV footage of the incident and Mr Melia punched the injured party in the head.

Judge Andrew Cody convicted and fined €500.
