MEMBER of the READY group Margaret Cowan of Hawkswood, Killeigh, Co. Offaly and late of The Elms, Spollanstown, Tullamore, died recently.

PRO for READY, Phil Newton has written this tribute to Margaret.

''Margaret Cowan ascended to her heavenly home last week, and READY members and friends are so very sorry to see this lovely gentle lady leave us. Margaret retired to Ireland about fifteen years ago, having lived her life and reared her family in Manchester.

Margaret was a nurse, and anyone who knew her would know from her gentle ways that those under her care were definitely privileged and very well taken care of by an earth angel.

Margaret was an active member of TARA, and served on their committee, as well as enjoying many social outings with the READY organisation.

She loved people, and was always such a pleasant person to engage in conversation, as READY Chairperson, Mary McKernan also affirmed this week. Mary says she will miss the lovely conversations she often had with Margaret.

Member, Annie Keeley also remembers Margaret for her kind ways and the lovely conversations they had along a journey shared.

Margaret was to travel with us on a recent READY break away, but we were all so disappointed when we realised that she was not able to travel due to her failing health.

Margaret’s attitude to ageing was wonderful, she used to say, “no use in sitting at home waiting for it to happen, fight it every step of the way” and by golly she did. Margaret always looked so elegant, she had beautiful skin, and a fabulous head of hair.

Barry LaCombre, Mary McKiernan, Chairpersons of READY and all of us in the READY organisation miss you big time Margaret, and have learned from your positive attitude to life and living, these are gifts that are priceless and we will miss you.

READY members and friends extend our sincere sympathy to Margaret’s daughter Loretta, and to Joe, Gerry and Tom and to her family and to all who love her. Margaret while living in this dimension you made a difference and were loved. Fly high with angels.''
