Serious fire in Offaly was caused by motorbike in rear shed

A fire that broke out at a premises on Emmet Street, Birr was caused by a motorbike, the Gardaí told Offaly Live this week.

The incident happened on Monday morning July 14 last at the rear of the Courtyard Office Centre.

“A motorbike was stored in a large shed at the back,” said the Garda spokesperson.

“Unfortunately the bike's battery ignited and its flames spread. The shed and an adjoining office were extensively damaged.”

No one was injured in the blaze which took a couple of hours to put out.
