A STUNNING photograph taken in the United States has resulted in Mark Guinan being named the Tullamore Camera Club Photographer of the Year for 2021.

Local professional photographer Paul Moore selected the landscape image for the award.

Mr Guinan photographed Mount Moran from Oxbow Bend on Snake River in Grand Teton Park near Jackson Hole, Wyoming in 2019.

The image is a remarkable panoramic view of the colours of the mountain, sky and forests reflected in the water.

The club said it was delighted to have Mr Moore selecting the winners.

“Paul’s job was to select the winners from the collection of winning photos from the 2021 monthly competitions, which covered a wide range of themes - not an easy task,” said Camera Club secretary Bridie Roe.

The club also began its monthly photograph competition for 2022. The theme for January was Christmas.

The awards were announced when the club held its first meeting of 2022 last month through Zoom.

The club's first meeting in person will take place on Thursday, February 24 at 8pm in the Offaly History building, Bury Quay.

“It is hard to believe it is nearly two years since we could meet in person. We will adhere to Covid-19 guidelines so that all members are safe,” said Ms Roe.

Because February is a short month members need to submit their photographs for the February competition (the theme is 'Monochrome') by Sunday, February 20 next.
