The weekend just past was a busy one for the members of Ferbane AC. First up was Mick Fogarty who ‘stormed’ to victory in 53:01 in the Ardagh 10 Mile Challenge. In tough conditions and an extremely challenging course, Mick continues to carry over his excellent form from 2021 into this year’s events. Also competing was Francis Connolly. Francis who is no stranger to the Ardagh 10 Mile, ran superbly well in a time of 1:08:27. Well done lads!

Moving east to Two Mile House 5K in County Kildare, Tim Camon took first the First Male over 60 title, running 0:20:43 on the day. Tim continues to go from ‘strength to strength’ and is well placed to make a significant impact in the upcoming Offaly Road Race Series.

Finally, closer to home the Sean Lowry Memorial 5k hosted by Birr AC, took place in Crinkle. Over a dozen of our members braved the strong winds to run great times on a what many consider to be a tough 5k course. First home and ladies’ winner of the event was Denise Egan in 0:18:36. All signs are pointing to a hugely successful year in prospect for Denise who continues to excel in local and national events. It was also very heartening to see a few of our juvenile members take part and we hope to see this trend continue. Congratulations to everyone for taking part.
