Supermac's boss and family receive Garda Centenary Medal at Laois Offaly Garda event

The boss of Supermac's Pat McDonagh and his brothers and sisters gathered in Portlaoise this week where they were presented with the Garda Centenary Medal to mark their father's service in An Garda Síochána.

Deputy Commissioner Anne Marie McMahon made the presentation to Mr McDonagh and his siblings John Joe, Lilly, Mary and Angela at the Killeshin Hotel in Portlaoise.

They accepted a Garda Centenary Commemorative Medal on behalf of their late father John McDonagh. The family were also presented with copies of the fathers Garda records including letters dating back to his recruitment more than 90 years ago.

Mr McDonagh senior joined the Gardaí in 1931 and served as a Garda for over 40 years at various stations throughout the country, including Banagher and Rahan Garda Stations in the Laois Offaly Division. MORE BELOW PICTURE.

Commemorative Garda Centenary medals have been presented to family members of all those who served but who are now sadly deceased in appreciation of their service to the State.

The medals were presented with the medal at the Laois Offaly Garda Youth Awards which were sponsored by Supermac's.
