Man remanded on continuing bail at sitting of Tullamore District Court

A TULLAMORE defendant pleaded guilty to being in possession of €600 worth of drugs during the July 16 sitting of Tullamore District Court.

Peter McDonagh, Clontarf Road, Tullamore committed the offence on April 18 last. The 33-year-old had three previous convictions including possession of drugs.

The defending solicitor Aisling Maloney told the judge that her client was pleading guilty. She pointed out that Mr McDonagh had been self-medicating throughout the years to deal with his anxiety.

“Now he is no longer using drugs. Instead, counselling and medication are helping him with his anxiety.”

“Your client was previously convicted for being a drug dealer,” remarked Judge Andrew Cody. He added that he might give him a chance if he agreed to provide urine samples over a number of months.

Ms Maloney said he would agree to that. The judge remanded Mr McDonagh on continuing bail to January 7, 2026.
