Town Bus service for Tullamore being considered by transpot authority

It would serve places like the hospital, train station and local shopping centres in Tullamore
A bus service catering for the people of Tullamore is being considered by the National Transport Authority (NTA).
The bus would serve the town of Tullamore, possibly providing commutes to places like the hospital, train station and shopping centres around the town.
When introduced in other towns last year a standard flat fee of €2, with a second trip for free within 90 minutes was the charge.
Town Bus Programmes are a major new initiative by the NTA with the aim of ''providing reliable and efficient bus services in towns to enhance community connectivity, reduce reliance on cars and contribute to a greener environment.''
For example a town bus service was established in Carlow last year and now attracts over 1,000 passengers per day. It operates 7 days a week from 6am until midnight with a bus every 30 minutes.
The NTA says; ''From 2026 onwards, more town bus services will be planned and implemented on a rolling basis subject to the availability of funding. Tullamore is one of the towns under consideration post-2026.''
