WATCH: Narrow escape as car bursts into flames outside GAA game over the weekend
'I thought it was going to explode' - eye witness
A CAR burst into flames as hurling supporters were streaming out of a GAA ground on Friday evening.
Fans were making their way home after watching a Limerick senior hurling championship game in Bruff when the drama unfolded.
One eye witness said there was nothing malicious about it.
“It appears a lady started her car and smoke just started billowing out of it. Thankfully she was able to get out and get to a safe distance. I thought it was going to explode. It went up so fast.
“I had just come out of the match. I got to my car just in time.
"Luckily, there were no fans beside the car when the fire started. It was scary as you didn’t know what was going to happen,” they told Limerick Live.
Kilmallock Fire and Rescue Service were on the scene within minutes, quickly quenched the blaze and made the area safe. It is not known how the fire started.
