Woman caught speeding in Offaly given two disqualifications

A WOMAN who was caught speeding was disqualified from driving and fined at last week's district court.

Winnifred Lynch, Ruanbeg Park, Cill Dara, Kildare was clocked by Garda Kenny driving at speeeds of 110 kilometres in an 80 kilometre zone on the R420 Raheen, Clara, on March 13, 2024. She was also driving without a driving licence or insurance.

Ms Lynch had six previous convictions, four were related to road traffic offences. The last one was for speeding when she was fined €250. She had no previous convictions for driving without a licence or insurance.

Barrister David Nugent said his client was not in court and was not working.

For the offence of driving with no insurance Judge Cody fined the woman €300 and disqualified her from driving for two years.

For driving without a licence he fined her €300 and disqualified her for two years. For the speeding offence he fined her €350 and gave her three months to pay.

He took into consideration her failure to produce her insurance and licence.
