A woman who was due to appear at last week's district court was in Portlaoise Mental Health hospital, Solicitor Donal Farrelly said.

Sgt James O'Sullivan said that Carina O'Sullivan (52) 27, Cloncollig Estate, Tullamore, was there on a voluntary basis.

Mr Farrelly told Judge Andrew Cody that a probation report was before him.

Judge Cody said he had read it that morning.

Ms O'Sullivan is accused of assaulting Daniel Hickey causing him harm on July 10, 2021 and again on May 3, 2022 and also on that date with damaging the front window pane of Mr Hickey's home and displacing it. She is also accused of engaging in threatening and abusive words or behaviour.

On December 21, at 28 Cloncollig, she is alleged to have assaulted Rebecca Power.

On July 10 2021 it is alleged she engaged in offensive conduct in that she shouted, screamed and lashed out violently at another person after being requested by Garda Alan Burke to desist.

She is also accused of stealing a jar of coffee worth €7 from Tesco, Cloncollig.

Gardai had sought to revoke her bail but because she was in a psychiatric unit they were unable to do so.

All the charges and summons were put back to February 8.
