Compact brings a higher level of equipment and features.

Hyundai has launched a higher-end version of its Inster electric car.

Called Lounge, it builds on the existing Inster platform with more equipment and enhanced exterior design touches.

Aiming to bring a premium finish, the Lounge adds a blend of cloth and leather upholstery, while on the outside there’s a distinctive ‘Glow Mint’ colour with new 17-inch alloy wheels and contrasting silver cladding. There’s a knit-type headliner, too, and like the regular Inster, all of the seats in the cabin can be folded completely flat.

Alongside the standard ‘Glow Mint’ colour, the Lounge can also be specified in Atlas White, Unbleached Ivory, Tomboy Khaki and Abyss Black Pearl exterior shades. There’s also an optional interior colourway to choose from which brings together grey and mint colours with Glow Mint accents.

All cars get a 10.25-inch infotainment system with a digital instrument cluster of the same size. A variety of optional extras, such as wireless smartphone charging, will also be available.

As with the regular Inster, the Lounge can be specified in two powertrain setups with either a 42kWh battery and 95bhp motor or 49kWh and 114bhp options available. Hyundai claims a range of up to 223 miles from a single charge while a 10 to 80 per cent top-up can be completed in around 30 minutes via a rapid unit.

Hyundai has said that the Inster Lounge will go into production this month (June) and that UK pricing and specifications should be announced shortly.
